Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna

 

Chanakya National law University (CNLU), Patna was established under the Chanakya Law University Act , 2006 by the Government of Bihar in 2006. It is an autonomous law university dedicated to the field of legal education. The Chief Justice of Patna High Court is the ex-officio Chancellor of the university.

The university has begun with the 5-year integrated undergraduate (BA, LLB (Hons)) course to meet the current requirement of the Judiciary. The total number of seat available is 140, out of which 20 seats has been kept for foreign nationals. The selection procedure is based on the merit as determined by the Common Law Admission Test subject to reservation as per Bihar Reservation Act 2003 beside other rules. CNLU has plans for launching post graduate courses in varied fields like Human Rights, Refugee Law, Disaster Management law etc. The university has started multi-disciplinary Doctoral and Post Doctoral Programme leading to Ph.D and LL.D degrees.  The University plans to start seven PG Diploma courses very soon. These include :

  • PG Diploma in Human Rights; Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law
  • PG Diploma in Industrial and Intellectual Property Law
  • PG Diploma in Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • PG Diploma in Cyber Laws
  • PG Diploma in Disaster Management and Law
  • PG Diploma in Disabilities and Law
  • PG Diploma in Administrative Law and Public Administration

The campus is situated at Nyaya Nagar, Near Mithapur Bus Stand. It is spread in 18 acres. It has separate hostel - Hall of Residence, for boys and girls. The university has good library. The campus is Wi-Fi at Optical-Fiber back-end. It has 1 Gbps connectivity for video conferencing and internet purpose.  A canteen is also available in the campus. Jeevatka ia the annual university fest.
