Har Mandir Takht set for Guru Gobind Singh's 347th birth anniversary celebration

 

The famed Har Mandir Takht of Patna City is all prepared to host the celebration of the 347th birth anniversary of the tenth Guru of Sikhism, Guru Gobind Singh. The celebration will commence on 5th January 2014 and will last for three days. A number of events are marked for each day, with the final and major event being on 7th January - the last day of celebration. A large number of visitors are expected to arrive in Patna to take part in the celebration from different part of the country and abroad as well. Elaborate arrangement has been made for accommodation of the visiting guests. The 'Atoot Langar' will start functioning from 5th Janaury. Security has been also beefed up to ensure that the event goes without any glitch. The main events are

  • Jan 5 : Badi Prabhat Pheri, Gurbaani Competition, Kavi Darbar
  • Jan 6 : Kirtan Darbar, Nagar Kirtan from Gaighat Gurudwara to Harmandir Takht
  • Jan 7 : Main function

The main function will be attended by many dignitaries including chief minister Nitish Kumar, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Governor D Y Patil, MP from Patna Saheb Shatrughan Sinha and a number of other MPs and MLAs. The main event will be aired on Doordarshan and All India Radio from 9:20 AM to 12:20 PM.

Har Mandir Takht is one of the five Takhts (Holy Seat of Authority) of Sikhism. The gurudwara has a special place as it is the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last guru of Sikhism. Thousands of devotee reach here from various parts of the country and abroad to pay homage to the guru throughout the year.
