Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, popularly known as S K memorial Hall, is probably the largest auditorium in the City. Situated towards North Gandhi Maidan, its tortoise shaped design easily attracts attention. This memorial is named after the first Chief Minister of the State, Sri Krishna, whose statue is placed infront of the hall.
The auditorium was formally inaugurated in 1993, though its foundation stone was laid as early as in 1963. The approximate sitting capacity in the centralized air-conditioned hall is 2,000. This capacity is often over crossed when some political function is going on. Though started with much anticipation, it has fallen into disarray due to lack of any major renovation work. However, this does not deter the event organizers. This hall is most sought after hall due to its capacity and central location. This hall is specially very popular among the political parties, and most of the booking are done by them. The white washed auditorium is often seen decorated with the pamphlets of political parties. It also acts as felicitation hall for any dignitaries visiting the State by the government.
