The State Cabinet has given final nod to the ambitious plan of constructing Science city in Patna. Beside, it also gave nod for the two planetarium that would come up at Darbhanga and Gaya. The RFP (Request For Proposal) has been sent to the Finance department, after approval of which appropriate Master Planner Consultants would be appointed to prepare the draft of the three projects. The Science City will have all the facilities of a modern Science City.
The expected cost of Science City has been put to Rs 100 crore, though there may be variation, depending on the features added to it. The Patna DM has assured approx 20 acres of land, behind the Premchand Rangshala, Saidpur. It will be near to Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium. For the Science City, the existing facilities of the Science Cities at Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Jullander have been collected, and based on the comparative study and the space available, the best features will be incorporated in it. It will be a unique in many aspects. There will be one big complex, accompanied by many smaller blocks for better segregation of the different aspects of Science. Many demonstrations will be placed in open space also. It is also expected to have a a high tech 5-D theater.
If all goes well and predicted, the construction will start in the next financial year 2013-14. The presence of Science City will give a boost to the educational atmosphere of the City.
Update 26th Sep 2012 : The Department of Science and Technology, Government of Bihar State Government today floated an all India tender inviting 'Request For Proposal' for the Science City. It " proposes to develop a science city with an objective of promotion and popularization of science among the populace as well as demonstrate and preserve the illustrious history of scientific development in Bihar and Indian subcontinent through visual interactive media or any other suitable media. In this endeavor, the Department of Science and Technology invites proposal for selection of a Master Planning Consultant who shall prepare a Master Plan and Feasibility Report for development of the Project. In this process different concept may be conceived for the development of the Science City. The Department intends to select the Consultant through an open competitive bidding process in accordance with the procedure set out in the RFP document."
All interested parties can obtain Request For Proposal Document on all working days between 1100 hours to 1600 hours up to 10th November 2012 on payment of non-refundable fee of Rs 1000.00 i the form of a DD. The last date of submission of Proposal is 30th November, 2012, not later than 1500 hrs.
