Foundation stone laid for International Convention Centre in Patna


The foundation stone of the International Convention Centre was laid by CM Nitish Kumar in Patna yesterday. The Rs 490 Crore project will be completed by November 2015. The project include construction of an international centre cum education building, auditorium, food court and an grand entrance gate called Sabhyata Dwar (Gate of Civilization). Their will be several hall of different capacities to hold meeting, functions etc. The largest of them will accommodate 800 participants at one time. The auditorium will accommodate 5000 people. There will be ample parking space in the centre to hold 450 vehicle at any given time.

The convention centre is coming up in the north of Gandhi Maidan, where many earlier buildings has been demolished to pave way for the centre. A part of the design of the centre caused much annoyance among the girls of Magadh Mahila College (MMC). The MMC students protested against the closure of the approach road to the college. The protest resulted into slight modification int the project design, though the basic features has been retained. CM also laid the foundations of several stadiums across the state, and other projects through remote control.
