New Year Celebration - Where to go in Patna

 

When it comes to where to go on the new year day i.e. on January 1 for celebration, it always turns out to be a tough task. Choosing from a host of options with varying degree of facilities and accessibility is not an easy option, especially when  the group is large. Patna offers a number of places where one can enjoy. Patna Zoo remains the most popular choice among the Patnaites with thousands of people visiting its campus. We take a look at the options which can be availed on the new year day.

  • Ganga Diara : If you want to spend some peaceful moment along with your family on new year day, take a visit to the Diara picnic spot. The tranquil environment along the beaches of the Ganga coupled with sand and warm sun is enough to mesmerize any one. BSTDC has made special arrangement for the new year eve. Temporary cottages, washrooms, police posts etc. has been constructed.

  • M V Ganga Vihar : If you do not have time to go on the beach, but still want to enjoy then M V Ganga Vihar is another option available. This floating restaurant takes you down the Ganga till Gai Ghat from the Gandhi Ghat. If offers a wonderful view of the city along the bank. This option has emerged as one of the highest revenue earner for the BSTDC. There can be rush on the new year eve. However, special arrangements in terms of extra trips has been made by the authorities.

  • Funtasia Island Water Park : If you do not have transportation problem and wishes to enjoy something different, then this can be your option. Situated at a bit far distance from the city, the park has been opened for the new year eve celebration only (it remain close for the winter period).

  • Eco Park : This park can be your option if you live nearby it. The botanical theme park which offers host of other activities like boating, aqua zorbing etc. can be a fun with the group. It is preferred over Patna Zoo as the latter is too much congested on new year eve. However, the rush at Eco Park can not be under estimated.

  • Patna Zoo : The vastness of the Zoo starts looking congested on this very day. Though the administration makes elaborate arrangement for this, yet the zoo remains overcrowded throughout the day. If you okay with the crowd, then you can definitely visit it, after all this site receives the maximum footfall on the new year day in Patna. A good places especially when kids are accompanying the group.

  • Malls and Movies : If you do not want to spent time on visiting the above places, but still want to have a good day, then you can head to malls or catch movies or both. Visit the P & M Mall, Mona Complex etc., do some shopping, get a lunch and enjoy the matinee show. However, the tickets might not be available in the counter on the day !!!.

  • Religious places : There are many people who want to visit their respective religious places like temple, gurudwara etc. on this day to pray for their wellness in the new year. Patna has lot of historical religious places, however the only issue if that of rush. Lot of people visit these places and you might have to stand in a queue for a couple of hours to get the Darshan !!!

  • Rajgir : If travelling is not a problem, then nothing can be better than a visit to Rajgir which is situated 100 km south-east of Patna. There are numerous places in Rajgir where one can spend quality time. Historical and religious sites are scattered throughout the town. Whats more, the ruins of historical Nalanda University is situated barely 10 km away. So, you can visit that site also.
