Patna Science City

 

The State government plans to built a state-of-the-art Science City in Patna. It will be based on the Kolkata Science City which is very much popular among  people of all age groups. The projects aims to inculcate scientific temper among children. The government gave its nod for the project in September, 2012 and in the same month, Department of Science and Technology of the state government floated an all India tender for it. The estimated cost of the project has been put around Rs 500 Crore.

The Science City would come up near Moin-Ul-Haq stadium in Rajendra Nagar in an area of 15.5 acres (~ 63,000 m2). The attractions will be :

  • Earth Application Hall
  • Evolution Park
  • Non Conventional energy Village
  • Musical Mountain
  • Time Machine
  • Mirror Magic
  • Power of Ten
  • Butterfly garden
  • Outdoor Science park
  • Fun Science
  • Energy Education park
  • Aquarium
  • Open park etc.

The construction work has not yet started [Jan 2014]. The estimated date of completion has also not been provided. Patna already has a science centre - Sri Krishna Science Centre near Gandhi Maidan which is quite popular among the children. The establishment of Science City will definitely add more scientific temper in children and will expand their horizon of thinking.
